Fines and Fees

Hi Circ. staff!

With today being the official start of the Summer semester, you may have noticed that we have more students who are "new" to the library or may be transient or transfer students. More often than not, they are unaware of our fines and fees policy. If you have a patron come to the desk to check out items and you think he or she may be new to our library (or even "old" patrons who are unaware of fines/fees policy), please try to include a "JCLRC Circulation Fine and Fees" slip with their items. I've left some at each of the Circ. desk computers. They look like this:

Reorganizing/renumbering reserve books

Within the next couple of days you may notice the reserve books being shuffled around. I am hoping to re-organize and re-number them so that all of the books are roughly organized according to subject. NOTE: We are still using the ITEM # system that we have in place. I just wanted to try to keep all the math, history, science, etc. books somewhat together. I hope this won't cause too much confusion or take up too much time!

Reserves

Hi all,

If you've been in the reserve workroom, you may have noticed that there are a significantly less number of reserve books on the shelf. Many have been sent back to instructors who have chosen not to renew items for the summer. This means that there will be items that students may want that we no longer carry. :( Please relay the message to students who may inquire and encourage them to check the course reserves system on our catalog to see what items we do have.

GPC Online

GPC Online Student Services have now officially moved into their new space (CL2310, just down the hall, across from the computer lab.) Students inquiring about or having issues with online courses can be directed there. Their number is 678-891-2805.

Learning and Tutoring Center Hours - Student Study Day

Via an email from Mary Hamiliton, LTC Coordinator:

"The Learning and Tutoring Center is OPEN today, Student Study Day (Wed. 5/5) from 9:00am-8:00pm.

We will be open our regular hours (M-TH 9-8, F 9-2, Sat 10-2, and Sun 1-5) during finals, and closing for the semester at 3:00pm on Wednesday, May 12.

We will reopen for the summer semester Monday, May 24."

The Learning and Tutoring Center is located in the B building on Clarkston Campus (the English lab is in room CB1201, the Math Lab is in room CB1207.)

Damaged items

Every once in a while a patron will bring a book to the Circ. desk to check out that is damaged. If you notice this, please fill out and affix a 'Poor Condition Slip' inside the front flap of the item so we can know that the item was damaged prior to the patron checking it out. These slips can be found in drawer at the Circ. desk where the date due slips are located.

It should look like this:


Remember to:
1. Write a description of the type of damage to the book and
2. Sign and date the slip
3. Tape the slip inside front flap of the damaged book.

I also just wanted to take a minute to extend a great big "THANK YOU!!!" to our entire Circulation family. You all are indispensable and contributed so much to making our department a success this semester. Keep up the good work!
